Foggy Mount Rainier Engagement Session

Michelle & Randy’s foggy Mount Rainier engagement session.

Michelle & Randy got engaged about a year ago on top of Mount Rainier, so of course it only makes sense to take their engagement photos at the same location! I was extra excited for this session, especially since I haven’t shot a wildflower session here in a long time. We decided to shoot at sunrise so that we could avoid the craziness of the crowds during the peak summer season. After waking up at 4 AM, we began carpooling over to the park. However, upon our arrival, we quickly noticed a thick fog around us as we drove up the mountain. The sunrise was definitely not visible that morning. Despite the fog, I still love how the photos turned out! It gives the photos a more ethereal atmosphere. What’s funny is that it was also completely foggy the day that Randy proposed.

We first headed to the Skyline Trail in Paradise as the fog was slightly less heavy in that area. After Paradise, we took some more photos at Lake Tipsoo as we exited the park. Be aware that during peak summer hours, you will need to sign up for a timed entry for certain parts of the park such as Paradise. This helps to maintain the trails and manage the sheer number of visitors that the park receives especially in the summer. Remember as always to stay on the designated trails and not trample on the flowers!

If you’re interested in a Rainier engagement session, feel free to contact me! I’d love to adventure through the mountains with you.
