Rainy JM Cellars Wedding

Wandong and Jingzhi’s rainy wedding day at JM Cellars.

Our day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with just the couple’s immediate family. For those not familiar with Chinese tea ceremonies, it is a wedding tradition where the bride and groom serve tea to their elders and receive red envelopes in return. It is a way to show respect and gratitude, symbolizing the union between two families in Chinese culture.

After the tea ceremony, Jingzhi changed into her ceremony dress. This was a simple satin wedding dress with a cowl neckline from The Dress Theory. Her bridal look was complete with her cathedral length veil, an updo, and the prettiest purple bouquet from Little Joy Fleurs. As we headed outside for the first look, it began to rain. Despite the cold, Wandong and Jingzhi proceeded to have the cutest first look ever! They even brought an umbrella that said “Love is In the Air”.

The ceremony, which was originally planned to be outside, had to be moved inside to the Barrell Room due to the weather. Regardless of it being Plan B, the ceremony space still looked amazing! I didn’t see a dry eye in the crowd as Wandong and Jingzhi said their vows to one another.

After the ceremony, we immediately transitioned into cocktail hour. The couple had a chance to mingle with guests before a quick little reception reveal. From the whimsical floral arrangements to the soft glow of the pastel candles, everything came together so perfectly! The reception consisted of speeches, a delicious dinner, cake cutting, and lots of dancing. The couple even treated their guests to a photobooth, an ice cream cart, and an intricate first dance to the song A Lovely Night from La La Land.

JM Cellars is one of my favorite venues in the Greater Seattle area. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to take photos and hold your ceremony at. If the weather is cooperating, you can opt to have your reception outdoors for dinner party feels. This venue is ideal for guest counts of up to 100.
